Dear P.S. 399 Family,
We begin the 2026–2027 school year with new energy, new staff, and a renewed direction for P.S. 399. A new year gives us an opportunity to strengthen what works, learn from what has not, and align our work around one shared commitment: meeting the instructional and emotional needs of every student.
Our work begins with high expectations and a belief that every child can grow. We will be intentional about planning with the end in mind, using data and evidence to guide instruction, and ensuring that students experience rigorous, engaging learning every day. We will strengthen conceptual understanding, use our instructional tools with fidelity, and provide the targeted support students need to succeed.
Just as important, we will continue to build a school culture where students feel known, safe, respected, and supported. Our trauma-informed approach reminds us that relationships, consistency, belonging, and emotional well-being are essential conditions for learning. We will respond to student needs with compassion while maintaining clear expectations and accountability.
This year calls for collaboration, persistence, professionalism, and teamwork. We are one school community, and the success of our students depends on our willingness to support one another, communicate openly, and hold ourselves to a high standard. I look forward to building this next chapter with you.
Let’s make 2026–2027 an exceptional year— for every student, every family, and every member of our P.S. 399 community.
Warm regards,
Latoya Staley, Ed.D.
